Key Club Rocks in 2011
2011 saw the VCHS Key Club pack in another year of outstanding community service. Our new officers have taken the ball on the run and are not looking back. Once again Key Club raised funds for UNICEF by collecting change in those silly orange boxes! FIVE families enjoyed a complete Thanksgiving dinner (that's a total of over 50 dinners since Key Club began this project in 2001), and children in Mexico recieved "Shoebox gifts" again at Christmas! These are just a few of the many projects our Club has organized in 2011. What will 2012 hold for us? Come visit us and find out...better yet, join our Club and help it make 2012 even better!
A New Year...equals New Opportunities to Serve
Returning Key Clubbers...Are you ready for another year of active service? Our new President and Vice-President went to the Key Club International Conference over the summer and that means that they will be full of great ideas and service opportunities. Look for upcoming events to include Club Rush and our initial fundraiser to benefit UNICEF! Looking forward to an absolutely incredible year!

Mr. Vivona
Faculty Advisor
Getting to know you...
Our new Key Club officers had the opportunity to let the members get to know them just a little bit better at this weeks Club meeting. While members were enjoying gormet round steaks each officer told little known facts about themselves. Highlights included finding out that President-Elect Jack Slocum is a very good dancer and that incoming Vice-President, Lauren Walker, enjoys Belly-Dancing as a hobby. A fun time was had by all.
Come Hungry To Key Club!
That's right...we are serving lunch at this Thursday's Club meeting as we officially welcome our new officers for the 2010-2011 school year. Meet your new officers and see how they "professionally" conduct themselves in front of you.
What's Next For Key Club?
Key Club is gearing for for two big fundraisers to keep our club "in the black" for next year. How can you help? We are asking that each member sell a minimum of one Jag Auction ticket before the Spring Break. This would make $240.00 for the Club. Also, SpringFest is just around the corner so you can help sell those signature Ice-Cream Drumsticks at our table. But it is not just fundraising that we are about...come to Club this Thursday to see what new Community Service Opportunities are coming your way!
The Votes are In!
Key Club Officers for next year were elected at our last meeting. President: Jack Sloman; Vice-President: Lauren Walker; Secretary: Aholibama Valezquez; Treasurer: Joshua Fabian; and Public Relations: Nick Vanderpool. Come to Club this Thursday to meet your new officers...maybe they will bring cookies again!
Are you VOTING today?
Don't forget that at today's Club we will be voting for our new Key Club Officers for the 2010-2011 School Year! Come by at lunch today in Mr. Vivona's room 307 to let your voice be heard. All prospective officers will be given 90 seconds to make the case why they should lead Key Club next year. Don't miss it!
Are You Ready To Lead?
Do you have what it takes to be a leader in one of the most dynamic clubs on campus? Key Club is looking for a few good men and women to be officers for School Year 2010-2011! If you are interested in being one of the following: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Personal Relations: Come to Club next Thursday and submit your name for the office of your choice. You will have an opportunity to present your candidacy to the Club the following week which will be followed by a vote. If elected, you will shadow our present officers for the remainder of this year so that we can hit the ground running next year. Good Luck and see you next week at Club.
Let's Officially Welcome Brand New Members To Key Club
Come to next Thursday's meeting (1/14)as we will be recognizing members who are new to Key Club this year. See you there.
A New Year means New Opportunities!
Come to this Thursday's meeting to see what is in store for Key Club for the remainder of our school year. Same Bat Time...same Bat Channel!
Our Tree is Surrounded!
And that's a good thing! Our Christmas Tree is surrounded by Shoebox Gifts that will soon be delivered to needy children in Mexico just in time for Christmas. We still have room for more so be sure to have your gift under the Tree by this Thursday's Key Club Meeting!
Christmas Service Updates
Christmas Shoebox gifts must be brought to Mr. Vivona's room by Club on December 17th! Some gifts have already been brought in which is awesome. The deadline to go to the Rose Parade Float decorating is this Thursday. That means, to go on December 27th to Pasedena and decorate floats...you must have your $10 deposit and permission slip turned in this Thursday, December 10th.
Christmas Service Projects Underway!
This week Key Club will be introducing its Christmas service projects. Our traditional Christmas Shoebox gifts will be demonstrated by our officers. These Shoebox gifts will be sent to Mexico over the holiday break to disadvantaged children. Also, if you signed up for the Wild Animal Park project, remember that the date has been moved to Sunday, December 13th. And...make sure you bring your $10 deposit to Club to insure your spot on the bus for the Rose Parade float decorating which takes place on December 27th. Finally, bring Christmas Cards to Club on Thursday as we will put a special Christmas greeting in them for our Troops overseas!

Thanksgiving Project is NO TURKEY!
Key Clubbers "gobbled" up the opportunity to provide a complete Thanksgiving dinner to 5 families right here in Valley Center. We spent our Club time organizing all our donated items into 5 customized meals for our families. $25 gift certificates were included with each meal to purchase a turkey to round out the meal. Congratulations Key Club members for another successful Thanksgiving service project.

Thanksgiving Project Update
Key Club will be collecting food items to bring Thanksgiving to 5 local families right here in Valley Center! Did you sign up to bring in something? Bring it to Mr. Vivona's room this week as our meals must be delivered by Thursday afternoon. This will be an exciting Club as we organize our 5 meals and get them ready for delivery. See you there!
Thanksgiving Project Underway
Nearly $175 was counted by Vice-President Chelsea Dugger in our little orange UNICEF boxes at today's Club. $325 is still needed to reach our goal. So, if your UNICEF box is still at home, bring it in ASAP!
Next week's Club will earn you 30 minutes of community service as we decorate the bags that will contain 5 Thanksgiving meals for families in our community. Many items are still needed for this project to be successful so don't forget to sign up for items to donate. You will receive 30 minutes of community service for each item donated...so, 5 items donated gets you 2 and 1/2 hours of service. Such a deal!
Time To Turn In UNICEF Boxes!
This week's club has us beginning our Thanksgiving Project - providing 5 complete Thanksgiving dinners to families right here in Valley Center. Sign-ups will be presented at Club so you can participate by bringing in non-perishable items for the meals. We will again provide each family with a $25 gift certificate to purchase a Turkey for their meal. And...our Christmas Shoebox Project will also be kicking off - so get a head start and find a nice large shoebox to gift wrap and fill with items to be sent to children in Tijuana, Mexico. Finally, it's time to turn in those jam-packed UNICEF boxes. Will we reach our goal of $500?

New Members BBQ a HUGE Success!
The quarter-pound hotdogs were huge and the new members were officially welcomed into Key Club. Now its time to get back to work on our upcoming service projects. Find out this Thursday about the Alternative Gift Faire - get those UNICEF boxes filled this weekend - and start preparing for our Thanksgiving Dinner Project!
New Members BBQ This Thursday!
Have you paid your dues to become an official member of the Valley Center High School Key Club? Then join us for this Thursday's (10/22) New Members BBQ in Mr. Vivona's room 307 at lunch! Not only will you enjoy a great lunch, but you will be given multiple opportunities to participate in Club-sponsored community service. Not paid your dues yet? Gett'er done. Come early - come hungry!
Sign up time!
Sign-ups will be available at today's meeting (10/15/09) to volunteer at this year's Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 24th. You may sign up for one or more shifts to earn valuable Key Club service hours. Also, our Key Club Regional Training Conference is this Saturday, October 17th, from noon until 8PM. Meet with over 300 Key Clubbers from schools around the county for this fun and valuable training. Twelve spots are available - so if you are a potential leader for next year - be sure to sign up for this important event. Dinner is provided.

Let's Get Going!
Key Club's second meeting was jam packed with opportunities to gain Club service hours! Our main focus is our "Trick-or-Treat" for UNICEF. The Club set a goal of raising $500 (did someone...Nick...say $1,000?) for the children of Uruguay. Operation Uruguay is a life-saving campaign to insure the rights of vulnerable youth to education, health, and basic services. Grab an orange box and start collecting now for this worthy project!
We're Back
A full year of community service...and fun is ready to begin! Key Club got off to an outstanding start with a standing-room-only crowd for its first meeting of 2009-2010.
Service projects are in progress: Come to our next meeting to find out how you can get involved.

Congrats to our new officers for 09-10!
